The Gentle Barn
At an early age, my mother instilled in me that all life is important and should be respected, including animals. And as a part of this lesson, she also had to explain that not animals were as loved as ours. Many were abused and suffered unspeakable cruelty. It was a hard reality to face. But since then, I’ve always had an overwhelming desire to protect those who were unable to protect themselves.
That’s why we’ve always adopted. Whether it was a cat or dog, even chickens, our family has always welcomed rescues with open arms. They’ve become our family; bringing us joy and we wouldn’t have it any other way.
Then one day, I learned of The Gentle Barn. Their mission is simple,
“To rescue, rehabilitate and give sanctuary to abused animals. Through the interaction with our animals people learn reverence for all life”.
They’re on a mission to save animals from cruelty. To save them from being butchered, euthanized or tortured and left to die. And to teach us that all life is to be respected. A cause I found admirable.
The donations they receive help animals get the medical care they need, as well as food and shelter. And they don’t stop there. They invite children of all ages to visit and engage with the animals – educating them and offering an experience of a lifetime. Special bonds are formed with the animals, helping at-risk and special needs children receive a form of therapy many aren’t fortunate enough to receive.
It’s all about paying it forward. And if you’re as passionate as I am about animals, donating to The Gentle Barn is the perfect way to pay it forward this year. Especially with the holidays right around the corner.
